Mr. James Olubayi

Mr. Olubayi is currently the Executive Director of the Zamara Group (‘Zamara’), which is head-quartered in Nairobi Kenya and operates in seven (7) African Countries. His experience involves extensive exposure to investment consultancy and all aspects of management of insurance companies including but not limited to product design, advice on investment strategy, marketing issues, general management, reinsurance, solvency testing, reserving, actuarial valuations and mergers and acquisitions. He has been appointed as an Actuary to many insurance companies and pension schemes in East and Central Africa.

Mr. Olubayi studied Actuarial Science at the City University Cass Business School, in London where he graduated in 1989 with a First- Class Honors Degree. 

He then joined Hymans Robertson Consulting Actuaries Ltd in London in 1989 and later on qualified as a fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (“FIA”) in 1994. He gained several years’ experience in international actuarial consulting in the United Kingdom before establishing the Hymans Robertson Consulting Actuaries Kenya Office in 1994. Hymans Robertson later changed its names to Alexander Forbes Financial Services (EA) Limited when Hymans Robertson UK sold out to Alexander Forbes of South Africa in 2003. With the exit of Alexander Forbes in 2017, the company took a new corporate identity – Zamara Group. 

He has also previously been the Chairman of UBA Kenya Bank Limited. He is also the Liaison Officer of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in Kenya and a past President of The Actuarial Society of Kenya. (TASK).
